Birthing the true YOU

Work 1These are the dictionary meanings of the following words,

Job : A paid position of regular employment.

Employment : The condition of having paid work.

Work : Activity involving mental or physical effort done in order to achieve a purpose or result.

Occupation : A job or profession. A way of spending time.

Does your job feel like work? Does the purpose you are achieving putting in all the effort not feel meaningful to you? Is your occupation only a way of spending time and getting money? Do you feel from within that there’s much more to life, much more you’re meant to do on this planet and much more potential in you? If you answered YES! to all these questions, you’re not alone. There’s a trend that has started in the last decade or so, and is on the rise exponentially especially after the recent wave of recession. More and more people are quitting meaningless jobs and creating business of their own based on their passions and inner calling. This, I feel, is also a part of consciousness transformation that’s taking place on this planet right now.

Work 2This move, from job to doing-what-I-love, is something I’ve been through recently, also. I am very interested in science since childhood and all the fascinating discoveries still make me feel awe for the human intellect. However, through a personal journey of last few years, I have come to realise that there’s more, much more, to humans than their intellect. I have become aware of the spiritual nature of my own and of fellow human beings. This awareness has made me change my career and life-path from that of a scientist to that of an inspirational workshops leader and speaker. However, this hasn’t been easy, to say the least. I have faced and still do face challenges daily finding my own place in this world that, in the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “is constantly trying to make you someone other than who you are”. It is especially a problem if you have interest in more than one thing and/or good at more than one thing AND want to pursue all your passions simultaneously! Because today’s world wants to label, pigeonhole and box you. This trend is not very old, though. There were the likes of Newton who was a physicist, alchemist and philosopher. Then there was Da Vinci, an artist, an engineer and a mystic. And then there’s yours truly … a scientist, a writer, an inspirational speaker, a creative being who is good at doing research, creative writing, communication, creating websites and FB pages, using social media effectively for marketing and more! Am I as famous and appreciated as Newton or Da Vinci? Nope! Because the world around me wants me to specialise in one thing, decide what I want to have a career in and stick with it for life!

Just when I had begun wondering whether there was something wrong with me, the Universe brought me just the right kind of people and resources to tell me, NO, there’s nothing wrong with you, sweetheart! I am so thrilled to discover them that I decided to share them with my readers and clients. Because I know that there’s a lot of you out there who are feeling the same confusion as me and these will definitely help you regain and boost your confidence in you. The pleasure Queen, Mama Gena (Regena Thomashauer) shared, in her latest newsletter, a video of her interview with Marie Forleo, an entrepreneur-mentor with a difference. The interview intrigued me enough to follow a link to Marie’s website where she puts up amazingly insightful training videos, for free! I must say this has been one of the best “sign-ups” of my life. Around the same time, a cousin of mine shared with me an article about how to raise funds for ones creative projects without a day job, from the website Puttylike.com. Finding the article title interesting, I visited the website and that opened up another treasure trove of information and resources that made it seem possible to live without being pigeonholed! Marie and Emilie (creator of Puttylike) gave me two descriptors (not labels!) that I could identify myself with … multi-passionate entrepreneur (courtesy: Marie Forleo) and multipotentialite (courtesy: Emilie Wapnick).

So, if you’ve been aching to quit your job and create something of your own that gives you mental, emotional and spiritual satisfaction but are fearful that it can never be financially viable, think again. It can be and there’s help out there on how to do it successfully. May this transformation bring you a great success, abundance and prosperity! May 2013 be the year of birthing the true YOU!!!
